Plant Based Milk Fibre Use Add It To Sourdough Starter

So I have to fully commit to dairy free. Anyway this also means I’ll be making oat milk, almond milk and rice milk again. One thing to note is to add your salt to the strained milk so as to not affect your starter in unexpected ways or kill the yeast. So after you strain you can add your pulp to feed your starter instead of wasting it.

My favourite rice milk recipe is this one here. But I don’t do dates. I might do maple but I add my sweeteners to my strained liquids. I feel like if I don’t the. Most of it gets strained out and is a waste and harder to measure for dieting.

But even if I added dates they would do well in starter. I make gluten free starter and I often blend oats and almonds and then combine the milks together to make a nicer milk or I combine all three of the milks I make most. I tried macadamia milk but not really a fan of it.

I don’t know about using other plant based ingredients to feed starter. I just know some people make starter with rice, oats or almond meal.

I will probably update my blog with how I make my plant based milks and where I chose to use them in baking. I have considered buying the Nutr because I do want to make soy milk but in a hassle free way. So I’m interested in the machine for that.

But if you make grain based plant milks, you should definitely consider using the pulp as sourdough starter feed.
