Almond Butter Porridge For Toddlers and Babies

I have no photo this time. My baby is gluten free so I make rice porridge or I buy wheat free Oats. A new popular porridge is Almond Butter Porridge. Sometimes I add apples or apples pears and a dash of cinnamon. Sometimes I add cinnamon and most times not.

Today I made Bubs Organic Banana Rice Porridge and put in almond butter. It’s better if you use homemade almond butter but I just used store bought today. I added a dash of vanilla and cooked it with milk on stovetop in an egg frying pan for the right serve. He is quickly approaching 16 months and his teeth are really bothering him which means we are eating softer foods temporarily and he has gotten a little fussy. I used a store bought almond butter I know he loves. He really enjoyed it which is great. It pairs well with freshly sliced apple or banana. My toddler has only just started fresh apple slices. But as he started cutting new teeth he isn’t interested in raw apple. It will pass when his gums aren’t sore as he cuts more teeth. Other times he loves the apple slices to teeth on.

Usually I make almond butter at home. I usually make roasted almonds almond butter. A lot of people have strong opinions about roasted almonds. I think anyone that doesn’t try it is missing out. Today I will do the quick blanching method and removing the skins to make a creamy almond butter from I unroasted Almonds. I’ll see if he likes it. He likes the roasted almond butter but tends to prefer the creamy store bought butters more.
