I used the gluten free toddler pasta sauce from Coles as mentioned in previous posts. Keep It Clean is the brand. I cooked the Gluten Free Barilla Elbows macaroni most of the way then added pasta sauce with a bit of water and arrowroot mixed in cold water to start thickening the sauce so the cheese would be creamy. Then I added about a teaspoon of cream cheese and two slices of Liddels Tasty Cheese cheese slices. The cream cheese was also lactose free. It honestly tastes like a very plain lasagna.
If you don’t use arrowroot or cornflour the cheese won’t be as smooth and creamy. Because I keep my baby gluten free I use these gluten free options. I swear it turns out creamier this way anyway.
I always do this in a mini fry pan specifically made for cooking eggs as it makes the perfect sized toddler servings. I fill the bottom of the pan surface with macaroni and it’s the perfect amount every time. If you haven’t tried adding tomato paste or sauce to Mac and cheese I definitely recommend trying it out ❤️
