Apple & Pear Gluten Free Oats Porridge

Pretty simple but I use these oats https://shop.coles.com.au/a/singleton/product/wheat-free-cereal-vanilla

I added extra vanilla flavouring. No sugar to my pot of oats and Zmyl milk and set it aside for the oats to soak in the milk. I diced the pear and apple and cooked them in a non stick pan with nothing added. No oil or anything. I like to use the heat to start to gently soften the fruit then added about 1-2tbsp of water. This helped cook the fruit. Cooked until soft. I then added it to the porridge that was still uncooked and cooked it slowly. Letting the oats sit in the milk helps extract the slimy texture for later. After the oats were cooked I poured into a Pyrex and used an emersion blender and blended to a fine purée.

He loved them. He won’t eat plain oats but pairing it with fruit always works well. He loves banana or mango as well. I have yet to try a combo of banana and mango. I would like to try banana mango with coconut milk eventually.

You can use whatever milk is suitable for your child be it breastmilk, formula or even water. Just look into what is safest based on your child’s age. My baby is now 1 and has started more dairy but lactose free as it seems regular dairy causes painful gas and other issues while lactose free dairy is fine. Otherwise I just use water or a bit of homemade almond milk. I prefer homemade as it’s full fat and I know what’s in it.
