I have been busy trying to prepare things for my Baby’s first birthday which is creeping up fast. Not a lot has changed other than going gluten free. He is still on softer foods. As he is teething and about to cut another he has started gagging again. My theory is he might be cutting a molar soon. He is also putting his fingers so far back he gags.
In light of this, we have been giving him watermelon. The cool but easy to chew fruit has been proving relief. Other days cold things cause more pain which probably means it’s hitting a nerve. Those days I offer warmed food. He has started eating over cooked soft grains of rice. I have made him a congee like dinner involving tuna and some egg. He loved that. He has had a congee like dinner where I added very soft butternut squash and broccoli. He liked the squash more. He did not like the carrot congee so much. He seems to prefer carrots in dishes that have a tomato base.
When he is ready I plan to offer him gluten free toast and rice balls. He was slowly having introductions to toast but with his current teething episode his gagging has lead to some choking. I find gagging scary as I worry about choking. As do most parents and caretakers. But I have noticed if there’s an increase in gagging it leads to choking and the culprit is usually teething.
So for now not much to update. But keep an eye out for story posts for quick photos because eventually I will make a matching post most times explaining what’s been done.
