Since there seems to be no Cerelac Stage 1 for a few weeks now I tried out Bellamy’s Organic 4+ Months rice porridge with prebiotic. You can find out more on the Bellamy’s Organic website, link below.
I like the Bellamy’s Organic range in general. I used to buy their rusks until my local store deleted it. I assume a lack of sales. I moved to a country town so things are more limited. So far baby is loving this rice porridge as well. It’s bland and less sweet than the Cerelac brand. It does have added vitamin C and iron which is good for growing babies. It thickens well and it’s easy to prepare. But it does cost more than Cerelac and seems to not thicken as much. However it is easy enough to make baby rice cereal at home or simply cook small portions of rice and blend it or make congee.
Rice porridge is incredibly versatile and a low allergen risk, easy to digest and good fibre. I am currently on a waiting list waiting to move as I am currently living with family so I can’t quite make my own rice porridge cereal yet. But I likely will in the future. I will likely make it into a blog post. I will eventually compile my rice porridge related recipes together in larger posts further down the line.
As I have been slowly introducing home cooked meals I have been adding some rice porridge as a thickener. So keeping that in mind whenever you accidentally make something to watery add some rice porridge.
Soon I will talk about herbs and introducing them to babies.
